It’s been cool and cloudy here in Meru, since it is wintertime in Kenya now, but spending time with friends has helped
us to keep our spirits up.
We went to Kitale and visited the 48 students, who are being sponsored by St. John Church in Darien, CT through The St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Centre. We saw 39 of them at their eight schools, and the other nine at the St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Centre on Parents and Guardians Day.

We toured the Sanivation facilities in Naivasha, and met three engineers from the Tata Trust in India who were studying sanitation and water projects that might work there. We were very impressed with all that has been done since Sanivation won an IShow cash prize last year, which was given by ASME – the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Marilyn took photos of the 180 students in Ripples International Christian Schools, ten of which are from Ripples’ New Start Babies Rescue Home. There are 29 other little ones in New Start – most of whom need adoptive parents who will love and care for them since their birth parents are not able, or willing, to do that.
We attended Joyce’s graduation at Kenya Methodist University – on a beautiful sunny day - with 3000 graduates and 12,000 parents and guests. Joyce completed all the degree courses while she was teaching, and now her goal is to start a school in a poor area of Nairobi for children who don’t get to go to a good school where Christian values are taught.
O God, we have learned over the years
that there is a further purpose
for our life and actions and dreams
to be prolonged in the life
and actions and dreams of our children
and grandchildren, friends and neighbors.
It is not enough that we enjoy them.
We yearn to see that others can enjoy them too.
Give us the wisdom of the Spirit of Jesus
to know how best to preach by example
and when possible by word
so that laborers won't be lacking
for the Grand Harvest of a New Humanity,
that is the goal of our dreams.
