This is a bittersweet time. We are glad to be going home soon, but we are sad to leave all our friends here in Kenya.

“Where We spent a few days at Elephant Bedroom in Samburu Reserve, where we saw large families of elephants as they crossed the river close to our tent. And we saw all the big cats – first, a mama cheetah with two youngsters, then a stalking lioness and then a leopard.

Looking Forward to Graduation Several of our young friends spent weekends with us. We have known them since 2005 and 2006 when we lived with them in a children’s home. They have now mostly finished their post secondary school education - and most of them have jobs, and can support themselves, and they are trying to also help others who are still struggling to find jobs.

Dancing Under the Shadenet SoL (Shepherds of Life) in Meru is supported by USAID (United States Agency for International Development). We visited their office in Archer’s Post and saw two of their projects. We were very impressed with the borehole and high water tank on top of which there is a solar panel that runs the pump. And under the tower, there is a shadenet, and under it there are 48 sack gardens. The women have planted kale, onions and capsicums (peppers) – things that have never been grown in this hot, dry place.

Alumni and Friends We enjoyed our last Saturday in Kenya at Tumaini (Hope) and Huruma (Mercy) Children’s Homes in Nyeri with alumni who gathered there for a reunion. Everyone had a fun time dancing, running Olympian-style races, playing soccer, drinking sodas and eating festive Kenyan meals with the 180 children who live there now.

Please pray with us –

O God of all our petitions,
it must be great to be so infinite
that all of our requests and complaints
don't exhaust Your big heart.
We certainly get weighed down
by the requests and demands on our hearts.
So we admire Your greatness of heart
to listen to us.
And how grateful we are
for the Spirit of Jesus
to inspire us to be persistent
in asking for our needs
and prompt to satisfy those of others.
Amen.
